A Black Executive Perspective now presents Need to Know

2

:

with the award winning hyphenated Dr.

3

:

Nsenga Burton.

4

:

Dr.

5

:

Burton.

6

:

What do we need to know?

7

:

Dr. Nsenga Burton:

8

:

Good afternoon and welcome

to need to know with Dr.

9

:

Nsenga Burton.

10

:

I am she and today I am talking about

an African american proverb called

11

:

don't start none won't be none.

12

:

Of course, you know what I'm talking

about I'm talking about the man that

13

:

man as Elizabeth says that man in

the White House Who continues to just

14

:

poke the bear, poke the bear, throw

stones, hide his hands, all the things.

15

:

I'm talking about the tariffs.

16

:

Now, see, this is what

we've been talking about.

17

:

Actually, we've been talking

about this since before.

18

:

Uh, 47 came into office, it's

like, do you remember the chaos?

19

:

Do you remember the, the constant,

you know, back and forth the

20

:

flip flop and flip flop and flip

flop and all of those things.

21

:

Well, they're back for a 2nd term.

22

:

And in this case, it's

with the tariffs and, uh.

23

:

47, making threats based on power that

he does not have right in the same way

24

:

that he's been making just all these

proclamations, signing all of these

25

:

documents that the judges, right?

26

:

The courts are saying, actually,

that's power that you do not have.

27

:

So, again, people have elected him

thinking that he can do all the things

28

:

that he said he's going to do now.

29

:

He's gonna try, but can he

actually do them with the 3,

30

:

the 3 branches of government?

31

:

That in existence to have checks

and balances, and then the judicial

32

:

part, a branch of the government that

is really there, you know, for the,

33

:

the guardrails now, whether or not

he listens to the judicial court.

34

:

So, to the judicial, the judicial

branch, I don't know why I keep

35

:

getting tongue tied on that.

36

:

Um, that's another story.

37

:

But what I am tripping over is this back

and forth with the tariffs with Mexico

38

:

and Canada and China and then, okay, yeah,

we're going to, we're going to put these

39

:

tariffs on you at 25 percent for this.

40

:

And then Canada comes back with, okay,

we won't sell you liquor and we're

41

:

going to put tariffs on you at 100%.

42

:

They're not going like 50%, 75%, you

know, 30% like we're on, you know,

43

:

the price is right or something.

44

:

You know, you go up like 10, 10 points

to see if you can get over and get

45

:

to the, uh, the wheel or whatever.

46

:

No, no, no, no.

47

:

They're like, oh, okay.

48

:

You wanna do that?

49

:

Okay, I'll see you 100% tariffs

on something you absolutely

50

:

need and keep playing with us.

51

:

We're gonna turn off your electricity

. So I think that, uh, 47 is.

52

:

Writing checks that he cannot cash.

53

:

That's not unusual for him.

54

:

That's why he has all those, uh,

felonies, but, um, I think what

55

:

we need to know today is that if

you are not in in place, right?

56

:

If you are not in a place where you

can deliver on what you are promising.

57

:

You probably shouldn't do it.

58

:

If someone is minding their business, i.

59

:

e.

60

:

Canada, i.

61

:

e.

62

:

Mexico, they've been minding

their business pretty much, right?

63

:

If they're minding their business,

don't go poking the bear, and don't go

64

:

starting something that you cannot finish.

65

:

The United States, yes, is a world power.

66

:

The United States thinks it's the

world's, the, the world's strongest power.

67

:

If we keep on, uh, doing the

things that we're doing, that

68

:

is not going to be the case.

69

:

It probably isn't anymore anyway.

70

:

If you look at, you know, depending on

which category you're analyzing, right?

71

:

Education, for example, it's a hell.

72

:

No, we are not the leading place

where you want to be educated, right?

73

:

And we can talk about other things too.

74

:

But what you need to know is.

75

:

Okay.

76

:

If you don't have the power to do it,

stop saying that you're going to do it.

77

:

All right?

78

:

Don't start none, won't be none

means where people are minding

79

:

their business, leave them alone.

80

:

When people are not doing

anything to you, leave them alone.

81

:

Don't be an agitator or an instigator.

82

:

Now if you got to defend yourself,

that's something completely different.

83

:

Somebody comes at you first and you're

defending yourself, which is what

84

:

Canada is doing, which is what Mexico

is doing, which is what China is doing.

85

:

That's something else.

86

:

They're defending themselves against us.

87

:

They're defending themselves against 47.

88

:

That's a different story.

89

:

So as the African American proverb goes,

don't start none and won't be none.

90

:

When people are minding their

business, Leave them alone.

91

:

When people are not messing

with you, leave them alone.

92

:

Stop trying to start fights as

a distraction from all the other

93

:

terrible things that you're doing.

94

:

And please stop doing things and then

going back and saying, Oh, you know what?

95

:

We're going to extend another 30 days.

96

:

Oh, we're not going to do that.

97

:

Oh, you know what?

98

:

We're going to have to go back and

think about that a little bit more.

99

:

That means you didn't think

about it in the beginning.

100

:

You hadn't thought about it at all before

you started throwing out these cards

101

:

that you don't and you don't have a hand.

102

:

So we don't want the flip flop in 47 back.

103

:

You know, it looks like

we're going to get them back.

104

:

But what I want people to know,

and this is what you need to know.

105

:

Don't go places acting like you got

power that you don't have because someone

106

:

will call your bluff that someone today

is Mexico Canada and China and then

107

:

what you got to tuck in your tail and

go back and say let me figure this out

108

:

Let's go back and think about this.

109

:

Maybe we can work this out What

so you can pretend to be a problem

110

:

solver when you're a problem starter?

111

:

No, thank you.

112

:

No, thank you So what you need to know

is don't start none Won't be none.

113

:

Leave people alone who aren't

doing anything to you and

114

:

going about your business.

115

:

All right, and that is Dr.

116

:

Nsenga.

117

:

Um, and thank you for joining us and

join us next week for a Black Executive

118

:

Perspective Podcast, the award winning

119

:

need to know with Dr.

120

:

Nsenga Burton, have a wonderful

day and remember whatever
